About a week ago, I flew in order to San Francisco to attend our very first Vintage Style Expo and to pay a visit to Dollhouse Bettie. I heard about the actual Expo several years ago when Dita von Teese talked about it as one of her favorite places to shop, and ever since then, I am determined see personally just how awesome it can be. And let’s just repeat the Expo did not disappoint.

There is vintage fashion on the trade show floor coming from each of the past 18 decades, and nearly all piece was in perfect, wearable condition. Jewelry, shoes, dresses, suits…the particular expo had it all, but what I was looking for (not surprisingly) was lingerie.

In comparison with all the other fashion available there was very little corset lingerie, and I understand why (all things considered, do you save your outdated underwear?). But the items that were at the display were simply beautiful. I’m talking delicate wide lace top bedjackets from the 1880′s, luminous man made fibre camis and tap under wear from the 1920′s, as well as, of course, the ever-present Fifties nylon slip. Most unexpected was how reasonably priced all the lingerie has been. For example, that Twenties cami and tap panty set I mentioned only agreed to be $55. It seriously made me consider getting into the vintage lingerie selling company.

After a long day of walking around the display (where I found this gorgeous tiny slip for only $16), My spouse and i traveled downtown in order to Dollhouse Bettie, my additional scheduled stop. I’ve pointed out Dollhouse Bettie on the weblog several times before, i have wanted to pay a visit to their brick-and-mortar location since it first opened. Much to my delight, they did not disappoint.

I’m a big fan of corset lingerie stores with a individuality, and I love retailers where it’s evident the owner has selected the merchandise with enjoy and care. And Dollhouse Bettie has personality, love, and care many. The vintage lingerie was gorgeous. The fashionable lingerie equally stunning. As for their their in-house designed line…properly, let’s just point out I have some new addendums to the Lust List. All in all, I’d call the trip a great, lingerie-filled, success!
