Seems like we finally have a thing cooking on the ‘Alien’ prequel front (orgasm is no longer a prequel). Deadline informs us that Noomi Rapace is now locked in the role of Elizabeth Shaw, although Angelina Jolie and Charlize Theron are circling the actual film’s other major female function, Vickers. Fox claims the other roles will be cast soon.

As far as story goes, we nonetheless don’t know exactly what Ridley Scott has organized. We know that John Spaihts published the initial draft, and that Damon Lindelof ended up being brought in to work with Scott on re-writing that product expanding upon it. Says Lindelof, In a world flooded with prequels, sequels and reboots, I was incredibly minted by just how original Ridley’s eye-sight was for this movie. It can be daring, visceral and hopefully, the last thing anyone expects. While i sat in a movie theater as being a kid, feet raised started for fear that a thing might grab my ankles, I never dreamed during my wildest imagination I would eventually get to collaborate with the man responsible for it. Working alongside him has been nothing short of a dream come true.

The not-quite-a-prequel is now known as ‘Prometheus,’ and it’s scheduled for the March 9th, 2012 release. There are five major roles (two of which are female). Seemingly this is no longer the motion picture we thought, and as an alternative will be an entirely new movie that uses the Alien Genetics. Says Scott, While Alien has been indeed the jumping away point for this project, out of your creative process evolved a new, grand mythology and universe through which this original story takes place. Your keen fan will identify strands of Alien’s DNA, as it were, but the ideas tackled on this film are unique, large and provocative. I couldn’t become more pleased to have found the unique tale I’d been searching pertaining to, and finally return to this genre that’s so close to my personal heart.

Thoughts on casting? Will be Jolie too big for a film like this? Is Rapace the next Sigourney Weaver? Do you that way they’re taking it inside a new direction, or do you rather a straight prequel? Seem off below …
